CARMA is a database containing information on the carbon emissions of thousands of power producers all over the world. But how do you display such a massive amount of information on the Web so that it both educates and inspires action? The Center for Global Development, the architect of CARMA, turned to Web design experts for help. Forum One Communications led the information architecture and programming efforts, while Synergema completed all of the design. The final site visually portrays the volume of CO2 produced by power companies and plants and has attracted the attention of major online publications, including cnn.com, bbc.co.uk, npr.org and nytimes.com.
